Myanmar is an agricultural country and
especially grows different kinds of rice everywhere throughout
the whole year.
A vast number of varieties of rice plant exist, all of which
differ from each other in their grain, their time of ripening,
their cooking qualities and flavour. More rice is grown in low-
lying country than in hilly regions. Rice is a staple food of
Myanmar and it has a high content of carbohydrate.
The rice and curry is the typical Myanmar food and the people of
Myanmar have it daily as their main food. The people usually eat
the rice together with the soup, curry and salad. Also a fried
vegetable is prepared as the side dish, mostly watercress. It is
very rich in Iron and good for circulation of the blood.
Myanmar people are used to drink traditional green tea while
having meals. Dessert could be very different among from
traditional snacks. Some are jaggery, pickled green tea leaves,
seaweed jelly, Myanmar sweet cake and seasonal fruits.
