The holy images of the Buddha from Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda are placed on a decorated royal barge called Karaweik (Mythical Bird) and towed by leg-rowers stopping at each village to let people pay homage. We focus on the closing day which is full of peak activities. The festival is held with great magnificence and pageantry fun fairs and dances are also held. Shan traditional boat races are participated by leg-rowers of both men and women dressed in their national costumes. By visiting Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda festival one has chance of seeing the different races of Myanmar nationalities, such as, Danu, Inntha, Pa-O, Shan, Palaung, Kachin, Taung Yoe and son on. Moreover one could have chance to see the Shan people traditional dances and their type of music, drums, flutes, gong and such is their physical grace and personal charm.

“Pinn” pagoda festival / peak day on 8th waning of the month Thadingyut Oct 2014

Pinn pagoda( full name Pinn Sakkalan pa) is located about 6 km west of Yenan Chaung, closed to Ayeyarwaddy river. This is a small festival compared to nation wide. The most enchanting is the way to pagoda. One has to go through low ridge mountains, narrow valley, walking Banyan trees , native people from nearby villages travelled by bull-cart. In that pagoda festival, one can find food stalls, toy shops selling sundry consumer goods, magic show, puppet shows and dramas. People young and old simply love to have a stroll around the place where there is pagoda festival. This country side is virtually tourist away. This is the day worth seeing for those who are looking typical fun of Ahnyar land.

Area description of Yenan Chaung
Yenan Chaung lies about 100 kilometers south of Bagan. The road goes swinging along the low mountainous terrain. Travel from Bagan may take about 2 hrs approximately. Yenan Chaung was the location of a strategically and tactically important oil refinery. While you are approaching you will see barren steppes and sandy streets. Yenan Chaung, the hottest and driest part of the country, the "dry zone". The sandy roads which is the only connection to this part . After roaming deeper, it get into steppe-like areas, the roads are narrow, a simple bridge spans a deep gorge. At some flood zones which are wide, dry river courses. When rains in northern Myanmar, but this way, the rain water from the distant mountains derived. Then do not get through there, a torrential flood is blocking the path. The villages are even more isolated than now.
