Yangon - Kyaikhtiyo - Bago - Yangon - Mandalay (Amarapura-Ava) - Mandalay (Mingun-Sagaing) - Bagan - Inle - Yangon (1 2days/11 Nights)

Day 01 Yangon – Kyaikhtiyo 180 km* 4hr drive

Pick up from the airport and drive to Golden Rock, locally called Kyaikhtiyo. It is located on a high mountain in Mon State and southeast from Yangon. Kyaikhtiyo pagoda exists on the highest peak (1100 meter above sea level) of the Paung Laung mountain ranges – 12 km from base camp kimpun. After 4 hours drive from Yangon, you take a 45 minute open truck uphill, then another hour walk up together with the native pilgrims., You will then reach the Pagoda site. In the late evening, dinner is served with fine Burmese food and then an overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 02 Kyaikhtiyo – Bago – Yangon

After breakfast, back to Yangon. On the way back to Yangon visit Bago. Sightseeing includes the Shwe Maw Daw Pagoda, over a thousand years old; its spire is even taller than Shwedagon Pagoda. The 55 meter long reclining Shwe Tha Lyaung Buddha image is among the country's most revered. Return to Yangon through rural landscape of rice fields and small villages. Lunch and dinner are included. Overnight in Yangon.

 
 

Day 03 Yangon – Mandalay(flight Etd / hr )

Breakfast at the hotel. Take a morning flight to Mandalay, the last capital of Myanmar kingdom, includes Mahamuni Buddha Image – believed to be cast in bronze in front of Buddha himself and nowadays gilded with thick gold leaf; gold leaf hammering, marble carving, and tapestry making. Afternoon sightseeing includes Shwenandaw monastery – still existing masterpiece of last Myanmar Kingdom's architecture in teak and wood carving; Kuthodaw Pagoda – renowned as the world's largest book; and Mandalay Hill – regarded a natural watch tower in the plain region of Mandalay – to view the sunset. Overnight at Mandalay.

Day 04 Visit Amarapura and Ava

Enjoy your breakfast at hotel then sightseeing to the most venerated Mahamuni Buddha Image cost in bronze, gilded with thick gold leaf; Golden-leaf Making Workshop; Kuthodaw Pagoda renowned as “The World’s largest Book” for its 729 stone slabs of Buddhist Scriptures Golden Palace Monastery, a super example of a traditional wooden building. Continue to ancient capital Amarapura. Visit to silk and cotton Weaving Industry, the famous U Bein Bridge,1.2 km long teak bridge spans the Taungthaman Lake. And drive to Inwa, formerly known as AVA, also a former Royal capital of Myanmar located at the confluence of the Ayeyarwaddy river and Myitnge river. After crossing the Myitnge river by small boat, taking a horse cart along the bumpy road to visit the ruins of the old royal capital includes the watch tower - the 27 meter tall leaning tower of old royal palace; Mahaaungmyebonzan monastery – the impressive brick and stucco monastery; Bargaya monastery – a splendid teak wood monastery with wood curving. Overnight at Mandalay.

Day 05 Visit Mingun and Sagaing hill

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Sagaing, a former capital of Shan Kingdom and Myanmar Kingdom but nowadays is renowned as the religious center of Myanmar because of over 400 monasteries spreading throughout the hillocks. After crossing the Inwa bridge (also called Sagaing bridge), one can visit the Sagaing hill by trucks. The highlights include Soonooponyashin Pagoda, Uminthonese – a thirty man-made caves pagoda. Other highlights include silver smith and Kaunghmudaw pagoda – the gigantic stupa represents a paddy heap. And we would take a short boat ride up river to reach Mingun, located at the other side of the Ayeyarwaddy river and north of Mandalay. The boat ride is always pleasant as one can learn the ways of local life along the river. Sightseeing highlights includes Pathodawgyi – believed to be one of the largest brick base in the world and it would be one of the wonders of the world in case if it was completed; Mingun bell – said to be world's biggest un-cracked and ringing bell and Myatheindan pagoda represents for Buddhist cosmology. Back to Mandalay. Overnight at Mandalay.

Day 06 Mandalay – Bagan (flight Etd/ hr ) Bagan Fullday sightseeing

Packed breakfast from the hotel. Transfer to the airport for early flight to Bagan. Check in hotel. Bagan is one of Asia's most popular archaeological destinations and one out of two most eminent religious old cities in Southeast Asia. The sightseeing starts with a visit to Nyaung Oo market – a typical local market; followed by visits to most distinctive pagodas such as Shwezigon Pagoda – the holiest one believed to be enshrined with Buddha’s tooth and hair; Gubyaukgyi Temple (Wetkyiinn village) – the 13th century 'cave temple' with fine frescoes of scenes from Jakatas; Anada Temple – one of the masterpieces surviving and remaining in Bagan and considered to be in the Mon architecture style. A visit to the lacquer ware factory followed by a visit to a local village. Before the sunset, we would take a boat ride along the Ayeyarwaddy River to discover local life and view the sunset. Overnight at Bagan.

Day 07 Bagan Fullday sightseeing

Early in the morning, the massive Dhamamayangyi temple noted for its remarkable brickwork. Visit Sulamani, one of Bagan’s great two-storied Bamar style Temples that has 4 seated Buddha images. Continue to Lemyethna Temple, topped by an Indian-style spire similar to Ananada Temple. Then the three shrines of Payathonzu (if open),which are connected by passages adorned with Mahayanist or Tantric mural paintings. Visit Nandamannya Temple with fine frescoes and an unexpectedly erotic mural. Take a break from temples and wander through the village of Minnanthu to see how the local people live. And visit Abeyadana Temple with frescoes representing Bodhisattvas and the gods of Indian mythology. Continue to Nanpaya Temple, built in the Mon style with intricate stone carvings, and said once to have been Manuha’s residence. See the four Buddha images in Manuha Pagoda and then stop at Myazedi stupa to see Myanmar’s “Rosetta Stone”, bearing inscriptions written in four languages. Overnight at hotel in Bagan.

Day 08 Bagan – Heho flight Etd / hr – Visit Inlay lake

Enjoy your breakfast at hotel and take the late morning to Heho. And drive to Inle, visit Inle lake. Inle Lake exists 900 meters above sea level and the homeland of the Inthar tribe. Visit the regional market which takes place once every fifth day around the different areas of Inle Lake, if the day coincides with the market day. Phaungdawoo Pagoda – famous for its richly gilded five small Buddha images and its history; Ngaphechaung monastery (formerly also known as jumping cat monastery for trained jumping cats) – more than one and a half century old monastery with its collection of ancient Buddha Images. Other attractions include unique leg-rowing style and fishing method of the Innthar; floating gardens and vegetable plantations; and weaving factory and blacksmith. And back to Inle Lake. Overnight at Inle.

Day 09 Visit Indein

Breakfast at the hotel. Taking the boat down south and into a small twist and turn creek running into the lake, we would reach the Inn-dein village – a small village located at the south western bank of the lake famous for its ruined clusters of pagodas dating back to 16th century. The tranquility, peaceful ambience and ruins overgrown with bushes set you back centuries. And back to Inle Lake. Overnight at Inle Lake.

Day 10 Visit Samkar

Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel and taking a boat to Sankar, where is situated at the southern end of Inle Lake. Our Cruise slowly through a beautiful rural landscape, as a spectator yes, people on the shore waved to us, kids laughed in glee, and everything was incredibly peaceful. Finally arrive at Sankar, Sankar is really a tiny village with a group of ruined stupas on the outskirts. Enjoyed our walk through the small village, a monastery and temple visit and visited a distillery of rice alcohol – ranging from 60 proof to pure spirits. Then, return back to Inle Lake. Overnight at Inle Lake.


Day 11 Heho – Yangon early flight Visit Yangon

Enjoy your breakfast at hotel and take the late morning flight to Yangon. Arrival at Yangon, check in hotel and take a rest. In the afternoon, enjoy your Yangon sightseeing with visit to Sule Pagoda, dating back about 2500 years ago. Then visit to Bogyoke Market (formally known as Scott market to the British) (close to Mondays and Gazetted holidays) to see Myanmar traditional handicrafts, clothes, snacks and famous Myanmar jewellery abound in stalls of the market. And visit Shwedagone Pagoda. Your highlight for this evening is the dinner in Karaweik Palace, overlooking to the Royal lake and Shwedagone Tower. The dinner is served with fine Burmese food and amazing cultural show. Overnight in Yangon.

Day 12 Yangon city sightseeing / Yangon – Onward departure flight

Enjoy your breakfast at hotel and visit World Peace Pagoda and cave, which were constructed during the time of Prime Minister U Nu, approximately 1952. The style is different, or fairly modern if compared to Shwedagon and others Pagodas. The World Peace Pagoda has a Buddha's relic room. It has a peaceful surrounding, and those interested could enjoy a stroll in the large compound which includes the cave and a fish pond. And take the lunch, after the lunch, free at leisure before your departure time and transfer to the airport for the International Departure.
